Concept Plans & Designs
The projected design for The Summit is based on multiple community surveys, a thorough market and operations analysis conducted by Ballard*King & Associates, and feedback from residents and visitors to Sullivan County. Using the collected information, Loyalsock Foundation volunteers worked with professional guidance from Kimmel Bogrette Architecture + Site to design the main facility for The Summit: Center for Wellness.
Over months of brainstorming and discussions, many ideas and drafts have been sketched and reviewed, which has culminated in the concept designs we are now excited to share. We have taken into consideration the present demographics of Sullivan County, future population projections, estimated operating costs, community needs, and the ongoing sustainability of The Summit.
The Summit: Center for Wellness Phase 1 comprises the construction of the overall site, i.e. the driveway, parking lot, trails, tree house, and building. The facility building will include a welcome lounge, meeting room, 4-lane indoor pool with an attached but separate ramp to an accessible warm water therapy pool, room for birthday parties and educational classes, a walking track that is entirely contained inside yet has views of the surrounding nature outside, group fitness classroom, weight room, exercise and cardio equipment, locker rooms with saunas and child watch area.
Phase 2 of the project will add a full-size gymnasium and event space kitchen onto the building.
This is a concept design that will continue to evolve to achieve our mission of bringing health and wellness to everyone in our community.
Exterior Design
Celebrating the natural resources and beauty of Sullivan County is integral to the design of The Summit. The building is designed to resemble a circular saw, paying homage to the local lumber industry while also easily incorporating an essential aspect of the wellness center, an indoor track. A single floor creates accessibility for all. Click here to see the full exterior renderings.
Interior Design
The architecture of The Summit takes advantage of the beautiful, natural scenery offered by the Endless Mountains. Lush views and a plethora of light will travel through the interior spaces by utilizing glazing on many of the building surfaces. The swimming pool is the central feature of the interior. What’s Next?
Loyalsock Foundation is currently securing funds for Phase 2 of the permanent driveway project, with tree clearing and construction set to begin mid-summer 2024. US Senator Casey has secured $457,000 in funding for The Landing, a community and wellness space designed as a treehouse. Concept designs have been created, and Loyalsock Foundation is applying for funds for an ADA-accessible pathway, pedestrian bridge, and nature observation deck to make The Landing a true community center. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025.
